Big Ten Release

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Four Illini landed on the 2021 postseason All-Big Ten softball teams, the conference announced on Wednesday. Kailee Powell was named to the first team and All-Defensive defensive team, while Delaney Rummell, Avrey Steiner, and Jaelyn Vickery each earned second team honors. Jaelyn Vickery was also named to the All-Freshman team, and Addy Jarvis was tabbed as the Illini's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient. Illinois finished the season with a 24-20 overall record during the 2021 conference-only campaign.
 
First Team All-Big Ten
 
Junior first baseman Kailee Powell started all 44 games for the Illini, playing the majority at first base. She finished the season with a .328 batting average, scoring a team-high 29 runs with a .550 slugging percentage and .409 on base percentage. Powell also drove in 28 runs on the year while leading the team in extra base hits with 17.
 
Second Team All-Big Ten

Sophomore third baseman Delaney Rummell led the Illini in multiple offensive categories during the 2021 season, starting all 44 games at third base. Rummell hit .314, leading the Orange and Blue with 13 doubles and 33 runs batted in.

Junior second baseman Avrey Steiner finished the season with a team-best .329 batting average while starting all 44 contests at second base. Steiner tallied 51 hits in 155 at bats, finishing the season with the third-most hits in the Big Ten.

Redshirt-Freshman outfielder Jaelyn Vickery started all 44 games in center field for Illinois, hitting .306 in her first season in the Illini lineup. Vickery finished with a .404 on base percentage with 27 runs scored and a team-high 11 stolen bases. Vickery was also named to the All-Freshman team.

All-Defensive Team

In addition to garnering first team honors, Kailee Powell also earned a spot on the All-Defensive team after a stellar season in the field. Powell finished the season with a .996 fielding percentage, committing just one error in 244 chances. She notched 235 putouts and eight assists while being a part of six double plays.
