CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — A Big Ten title will be on the line for The Illinois women's golf team this weekend at TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio. All 14 Big Ten women's golf programs are there to compete for the 2021 conference title.
Illinois is led by senior Tristyn Nowlin and junior Crystal Wang, who rank No. 85 and No. 86 in the nation, respectively. They both rank among the top 10 of Big Ten golfers.
The Illini are coming off a sixth-place finish at the Indiana Invitational, led by Nowlin's second straight top five individual finish. The Illini finished fifth among Big Ten teams, as each of the 14 schools used the tournament in Bloomington as a tune-up for this weekend's championship.
Illinois is looking for its first Big Ten title after tying for second in each of the last two Big Ten Championships in 2018 and 2019. The 2020 tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The tournament starts at 9:30 a.m. CT on Friday.
