INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The No. 16 Illinois Fighting Illini women's cross country team and senior Jon Davis of the men's team have qualified for the 2020 D1 Championships. The event will take place on Monday, March 15 in Stillwater, Okla. at the OSU Cross Country Course hosted by Oklahoma State.
The women's squad was selected as one of 31 teams to participate in the event. They are joined by four other Big Ten teams: Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State and Minnesota. Illinois placed 22nd in the 2019 NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. The team placed third at the Big Ten Championships on January 30, 2021 and are led by seniors Rebecca Craddock and Allison McGrath as well as junior Ayah Aldadah.
In addition to the 31 men's teams selected, 38 individuals have been invited to race, including Davis. This will be his third appearance at the NCAA Championships, including an 80th place finish in 2016 and a 49th place finish in 2017.
