SUNSET, S.C. —Illinois' Tristyn Nowlin is in fourth place of the Clemson Invitational as teams near the finish of the 54-hole tournament at The Reserve at Lake Keowee. Play was suspended due to inclement weather with Illinois in fifth place as a team with four holes remaining.
Nowlin shot 70 (-2) in the first round, 72 (E) in the second round, and sits at -2 in the final round with four holes left. She leads the field with a 4-under score on the tournament's par-4s and has played even on the par-3s and par-5s. Nowlin is five strokes off the pace set by Kent State's Caley McGinty.
Illinois has two others in the top 20 with Isabel Sy in a tie for 12th at +1 and Crystal Wang in a tie for 19th at +3. As a team, the Illini are are +7.
Kent State leads the 18-team field at -9. Illinois is currently the second-best scoring Big Ten team of seven. Play resumes Sunday at 7:30 a.m. CT.

Tristyn Nowlin is tied for the third at 2-under to lead the Illinois women's golf team in the first 27 holes of the Clemson Invitational at The Reserve at Lake Keowee. Illinois was in fifth place at +10 in the second round before play was stopped due to darkness on Friday.
Nowlin rode three straight birdies on holes 3-5 to a 2-under 70 in the first round. She is even par through nine holes of the second round with one birdie and one bogey.
Illinois has two other players in the tournament's top 25: Crystal Wang (+1, T11) and Isabel Sy (+3, T25).
The tournament played 27 holes Friday due to forecasted inclement weather later in the weekend. The second round resumes at 8 a.m. CT on Saturday.
