CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Fighting Illini Track & Field travels to Bloomington, Ind. on Friday and Saturday to take part in the Big Ten Invitational #1 hosted by Indiana. This meet is the first outdoor event of the year for the Illini, and the first since 2019 as the entire 2020 outdoor season was canceled due to COVID-19. The meet will take place at the Robert C. Haugh Complex and is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday night with the men's and women's pole vault events. Action will pick back up Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. CT with women's 3000m and span over the entire day.

KNOW THE FIELD
The Illini will be joined by athletes from Michigan, Purdue, Northwestern, Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, Minnesota and host Indiana at the event. This will be the first outdoor action of the year for all teams. The University of Iowa men won the B1G Indoor Championships in February, while the women of Minnesota also took home first place.

2021 Indoor Season: Finished in 10th place in the 60 m at the Big Ten Championships with a 7.51 (qualified with a PR 7.48)...Placed third in both the long jump and the 60 m at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational...Secured second place for the Illini in the long jump at the Husker Quad with a jump of 19-1.5
2020 Outdoor Season: Canceled due to COVID-19

2021 Indoor Season: Second Team All B1G...Took second place in the 400 m at the Big Ten Championships with a PR of 53.51. This time is also good for third in school history...Secured second place for the Illini at the Badger Icebreaker in the 60 m with a time of 7.65...Placed second and broke her PR in the 400m at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational with a time of 55.67....Finished in third at the Husker Quad in the 200 m and the 400 m with times of 24.38 and 55.18, setting two personal records...Took third place in the 200 m dash and the 400 m dash at the Hawkeye B1G Invitational with respective times of 24.44 and 54.48...Her 400 m time added her to eighth place in school history in the event.

NEXT UP
Next weekend the Illinois track and field team will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. to participate in the Iowa Big Ten Invite. Action will span from Friday, April 2 to Saturday, April 3.
