CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -Â The Fighting Illini soccer team fell to Ohio State 1-2 Sunday afternoon at Demirjian Park. The Orange and Blue fall to 4-3-1 on the season and stand pat at third in the B1G conference with 13 points.
Redshirt-sophomore Kendra Pasquale scored her fourth goal of the season, assisted by Aleah Treiterer for her second assist on the season. The Illini recorded a season-high 23 shots, with seven being on goal.Â
The first half was very evenly matched, with each team recording two corner kick opportunities and the Illini leading in shots nine to seven. After defensive battles on both ends of the field and offensive opportunities, the game was tied 0-0 at halftime.
The Illini jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the second half from a corner kick by Aleah Treiterer to Kendra Pasquale. 10 minutes later, the Buckeyes responded with a goal of their own, and one minute later scored the deciding goal and put the game to a 2-1 Ohio State advantage. The Illini led in shots in the second half with 14 and had great opportunities from the corner and on fast breaks, but ultimately could not put another ball to the back of the net and the Buckeyes took home the league win.

The Illini hit the road for a two-game set in Michigan. Illinois takes on Michigan on Thursday, Mar. 25 at 1 PM CT on BTN+. The Illini then travel to Michigan State on Sunday, Mar. 28 for a 4 PM CT kickoff on the Big Ten Network.Â
