ANN ARBOR, MI. - The Fighting Illini soccer team dropped a hard fought battle to Michigan 0-2 Thursday afternoon at the U-M Soccer Complex. The Illini slip to 4-4-1 on the season.
The Wolverines scored at the 17-minute to establish a 1-0 lead that would hold through half time. It was a back-and-forth affair in the first-half, with both teams registering 2 shots on goal and earning one corner kick a piece.Â
The second half would be much of the same as both teams created chances in the attack and the Orange and Blue held strong defensively. The Illini continued to find opportunities and put 6 of 8 shots on goal in the second half but could not find the back of the net. A second goal in 79th minute of and a steadfast Wolverine defense would give Michigan the victory.

The Illini head about an hour north to East Lansing to take on the Michigan State Spartans on Sunday, Mar. 28. Kickoff is set for 4 PM CT and will be broadcasted live on the Big Ten Network.
