
Illini to Host Iowa & Nebraska this Weekend

URBANA, Ill. – The Illinois women's tennis team will host conference foes Iowa and Nebraska this weekend at the Atkins Tennis Center. The Illini will face off against the Hawkeyes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 13 followed by a match against the Cornhuskers on Sunday, also at 11:00 a.m. Live stats and video as well as a broadcast stream will be available each day.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend Illinois split a pair of matches on their trip to Michigan. On Saturday they fell to Michigan 4-0 in Ann Arbor.
They came out strong after the hour trip to East Lansing, defeating the Spartans of Michigan State 4-2 on Sunday. They secured wins in doubles on court one from senior Asuka Kawai and sophomore Josie Frazier (6-2) as well as on court three from sophomore Ashley Yeah and freshman Kate Duong (6-3). Singles wins from K. Duong, Yeah and Frazier got the Illini to the four points needed to be on their way with a win.
SCOUTING IOWA
Iowa enters the weekend with a 6-4 record (6-2 B1G) and comes off of a weekend split, defeating Penn State 5-2 then losing to No. 10 Ohio State 5-2. Their other conference loss comes at the hands of No. 8 Northwestern.
Earlier this season, on February 12, the Hawkeyes defeated the Illini in Iowa City by a score of 4-2. In the last ten meetings between the two schools, Illinois holds a 7-3 advantage.
SCOUTING NEBRASKA
Nebraska enters the weekend with a 6-2 record (6-2 B1G) and arrive in Urbana following a split of their matches last weekend. On Friday of last week, they fell to No. 10 Ohio State 5-2, then bounced back on Sunday defeating Penn State 4-2. Their other conference loss was also against No. 8 Northwestern.
Nebraska took down the Illini earlier this season on February 14 by a score of 5-2. In the last ten meetings between the two squads, the series is split 5-5.
