CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini Soccer returns to Demirjian Park Sunday afternoon to begin a two-match home stretch, hosting the Maryland Terrapins. The Orange and Blue are coming off a heartbreaking 0-1 loss at Northwestern on Thursday, where the Wildcats scored the game-winner with less than one minute to play in regulation. Redshirt junior Kendra Pasquale and senior Makena Silber both fired three shots (two on-goal) during the match, while freshman Maeve Jones and redshirt junior Ashley Cathro also added one shot on-goal, each.
The Illini will also host Hispanic Heritage Day on Sunday, with several campus and community Hispanic groups in attendance at the match, along with special concessions items, video board tributes and a Spanish-speaking public address announcer. Admission and parking to Sunday's match is free to all.

KNOW THE HISTORY
Illinois has faced Maryland just six times since the school joined the B1G conference, with the Terrapins holding a slight 2-3-1 advantage in the series. Sunday's match will be the first time the two teams have squared off in Champaign since 2017, with the last matchup in College Park on October 6, 2019 going in favor of Maryland 2-6.
KNOW THE FOE
Maryland sits at 4-4-4 on the season, including a 0-2-2 mark in conference play. The Terrapins most recently fell to Iowa 0-2 on Thursday night after back-to-back ties with Nebraska and Northwestern and a loss to Ohio State to begin the B1G slate. Led by a balanced offensive attack that boasts ten different goal scorers this season, Maryland was picked to finish last in the conference this season but currently sits 12th in the B1G.
