On Penn State
"Very tremendous challenge this week. Any time you're on the road in the Big Ten it's going to be a challenge. I think our guys are ready to get back on the field and compete."
On his recruiting philosophy
"I just know this: you're only as good as your players. I think our players are going to be a reflection of what our program stands for. I'm going to have to make tough decisions, the players are going to make tough decisions, and I'm going to have to make some roster changes."
On how he used his bye week
"We were out on the road quite a bit. At the schools I was at, several of them it was the first time a Power 5 head coach visited. I was able to go see three different players and their parents on the road last week. Saturday I was at two high school games on the east coast. I definitely think that it's one of the coolest opportunities as a coach."
On if he takes note on Purdue upsetting Iowa
"I think it's a very good indicator that Purdue is a good team. I think everyone knows that we play Iowa later this season. You always make note of the teams you have played as well as the teams coming up. In college football Saturday anything can happen, and I make sure our coaches and players are aware of that."
