NASHVILLE, TENN. – The Fighting Illini women's tennis team concluded three days of competition at the 2021 June Stewart Invitational Sunday afternoon after facing five other teams throughout the three-day tournament.
The entire Illini contingency made the trip to Nashville and saw 12 overall victories on the weekend. Facing off against opponents like Vanderbilt, Miami, Lipscomb, Kentucky, and Iowa State, the Illini held their ground against tough opponents, including a singles victory by sophomore Kate Duong over 16th-ranked Pfenning of Miami.
The Illini will take this weekend's tournament and use it to prepare for the upcoming ITA Midwest Super Regionals, occurring Oct. 22-26 in Columbus, Ohio. Juniors Ashley Yeah and Josie Frazier, sophomore Kate Duong, and freshman Megan Heuser qualified in singles competitions, while the doubles teams of Megan Heuser/Ashley Yeah, Kida Ferrari/Kasia Treiber, and Kate Duong/Josie Frazier also qualified to super regionals.
