Final Results

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Illinois men's tennis finished play at the Ohio State Invitational on Monday. Illinois, #3 Ohio State and #4 Michigan competed in singles and doubles matches throughout the weekend with no team scoring.

After redshirt freshman Alex Bancila and redshirt sophomore Nic Meister went 6-1 on the first two days, the rest of the team joined them in Columbus on Sunday.

The Illini won nine matches in singles play on Sunday and Monday. Freshmen Hunter Heck and Alex Petrov had strong outings, both winning their first matches for the Orange and Blue. Heck went 3-1 on the weekend, including an upset win over #25 Kyle Seelig (Ohio State) 8-3. Petrov went 2-1, with his only loss coming against teammate Lucas Horve.

Senior  #112 Zeke Clark went 3-1 over two days, including an upset win over #14 Andrew Fenty (Michigan) 8-7 (3) on Monday.

The Illini will get back to the practice courts for the next two weeks before hosting a Big Ten team the weekend of Jan. 29 and the ITA Men's Team Indoor Championship Feb. 12-14.
