COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Illini had a strong showing by redshirt freshman Alex Bancila and redshirt sophomore Nic Meister in the first two days at the Ohio state Invitational.

On day one Bancila went 2-0, defeating Ryan Fu (Michigan) 8-6 and #83 Connor Johnston (Michigan) 8-6. Meister went 2-1 on the day with wins against Ryan Fu (Michigan) 8-4 and Jacob Wareti (Ohio State) 8-3.

On day two Meister won both of his matches. He defeated Ryan Fu (Michigan), a second time 8-1 and JJ Mercer (Ohio State) 8-7 (7-2).

More Illini will join Bancila and Meister on Sunday. Competition for them will begin at approximately 1pm CT (2 pm ET).
