Meet Preview

Fighting Illini Track & Field begins the season at the Badger Icebreaker Meet, hosted by Wisconsin on Saturday, January 16. Competition will begin for the Illini at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the women's weight throw trials. Running events will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the final competition, the men's 4 x 400 m relay, set to begin at 4:30.

Know The Field  

The Illini will be competing against the women and men of the Wisconsin Badgers team on Saturday. Last year, the women's team finished in 9th place at the Indoor Track B1G Championships while their men finished in 7th place. The 2020 Outdoor Track season was canceled due to COVID-19.

Ran fifth-fastest 3K in program history at the Indiana Relays, timing a personal-best finish of 9:29.46 ... 3K finish ranks eighth in the Big Ten ... Finished fourth in the 1,000m exhibition at the Larry Wieczorek Invite with a finish time of 2:51.05.

Amira Aduma

2020 Indoor Season: Competed in the Long Jump, 60m, 200m, and 4x400m relay across five meets for the Illini, including Big Ten Championships...Tied for the fifth-best indoor Long Jump in program history at the Larry Wieczorek Invite, winning the event title with a jump of 20-1 3/4 (6.14 meters)...Scored for the Illini at Big Ten Championships as part of the 4x400m relay, which placed eighth with a season-best time of 3:41.10...Won the event title in the 60m Dash at the Illini Invitational, clocking a finish time of 7.52...Won the event titles in the Long Jump and with the 4x400m at the Illini Invitational ...Set a PR in the 200m at the Music City Challenge, timing 24.49 to finish eighth in the event

Manning Plater

2020 Indoor Season: Placed 3rd at the B1G Championships in the weight throw for Michigan with a throw of 21.63 meters... Threw a personal best 21.97 meters at SPIRE, good for 3rd place

Jason Shannon

Next Up

The Illini will travel to Iowa City, Iowa to participate in the Larry Wieczorek Invitational on January 22-23. Start times are TBA via Iowa's website.
