Crowder Named HS All-American, 4 Others Honorable Mention

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois recruit Jack Crowder was named a Rawlings-Perfect Game High School Preseason All-American, Perfect Game announced Wednesday. Four other Illini signees were named All-American High Honorable Mention. 

Crowder, a right-hander from Plainfield East High School, is ranked as the No. 2 right-handed pitcher in the state by Perfect Game, one of the top 50 righties in the nation, and a top 150 recruit overall. 

Crowder chose Illinois over Michigan, Penn State, Iowa, and Indiana because, "it was the best fit for me, and I loved the coaches and the players." He signed his National Letter of Intent in November 2019. 

INF Cal Hejza (Oswego HS), LHP Payton Hutchings (Coal City HS), RHP Clayton Johnson (Prophetstown HS), and RHP Tucker Shalley (Jersey Community HS) were all named to Perfect Game's All-America High Honorable Mention.
