"It's uncharted territory for all of us. Mixed emotions on everything. If you look at all the work that goes into a season, by the players, the staff, all the support people. It is kind of a sad feeling. But if you take a step and look at what's right, at least at what experts are saying what's right for our country and what's right for our community and right for our families and the players, I think it was absolutely 100% the correct decision. Again, mixed feelings but, Josh (Whitman) and the commissioner of the Big Ten, as well as the other ADs, have put a lot of time in on this. They have made very good, educated decisions and I'm very comfortable with how it has been handled and what we are doing to keep everybody safe."
"It has been a rollercoaster of a ride, to say the least. On Thursday when we found our season was cancelled, I was sitting in my apartment with my roommates. We were all looking at each other in awe thinking like 'man, could this really happen?' After that we took a couple days and were talking through a lot of things. I came home on Saturday and since then I've just been hanging out, weighing my options. I give a lot of credit to our coaching staff and how Coach Hartleb has handled this with allowing myself, and Garrett (Acton) and other older guys to have some time where we are not questioned by our coaches on what we are going to do. Really just kinda let it settle in. I've been having the mindset of continuously working and getting my work in to prepare for what is to come. So far, we really don't know what will come from this, but to be prepared will be the best option."
"Coach has talked about how this is almost another offseason for us. It's a rare opportunity to get another full training cycle in. Be able to work on some things that we lost on. ... Obviously it has been a bit disheartening. It is an unfortunate situation but I think the Big Ten and the NCAA and our athletic department have all made the right decision. Obviously it's a tough decision having to cancel spring sports, but I think the leadership we've seen under Josh Whitman and the Big Ten has been impeccable. They really have proven their character and how much they care about their athletes with how they have taken charge with this whole process."
"If I end up at the end of the year going back to school and getting a master's degree: that's a great opportunity for me. If I get the opportunity to play professional baseball, if that's the right situation, that's a great opportunity. Out of all this darkness and this dark situation, there are great opportunities for me. Just need to approach those as they come."
