CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The fifth ranked Illini men's gymnastics team play host to Springfield College for a dual meet on Sunday, Feb. 9 at Huff Hall. The event will be streamed on BTN+ and action is set to begin at 2 p.m. CT.
During the meet, club gymnasts will be competing for the club gymnastics meet. Youth gymnasts, eighth grade and younger, will receive a voucher to redeem a T-shirt. Following the meet, the Orange and Blue will hold a post-meet autograph session.
Last Time Out
The Fighting Illini posted a season-high 407.050 in their win over Nebraska (399.850) on Saturday, Feb. 1. The Orange and Blue picked up five event titles on the afternoon.
Senior Sebastian Quiana earned first place finishes on both floor exercise (14.300) and on parallel bars (13.850). Fellow seniors, Michael Paradise and Danny Graham sat atop the podium on pommel horse (14.100) and still rings (14.500 – career-high), respectively. Junior Max Diab recorded a personal best 14.800 on vault to claim first-place on the event.
In addition to Graham and Diab setting career-highs, freshmen Evan Manivong, Josh Cook and Evan Manivong, and sophomore Emanuele Muehlhasuer also had personal bests on the day for their respected events.
Scouting Springfield College
The Prided enter the weekend with a 1-9 overall record. Springfield College is coming off a 381.100-382.650 loss to Army on Jan. 26.
Senior Stephen Lewis helped the Pride to its season best score after claiming first on pommel horse (13.100) and finishing second in the all-around with a 77.550. Junior John Murphy earned the title on vault with a score of 14.200.
Carter Tabbed Big Ten co-Gymnast of Week
Sophomore Hamish Carter earned his second Big Ten Weekly honor this season after being named co-Gymnast of the Week on Feb. 4. The West Midlands, UK, native shared the honor with Penn State's Stephen Nedoroscik.

Looking Ahead
The Illini will look to Winter Cup in Las Vegas, Nev., on Friday, Feb. 21 through Sunday, Feb. 23. Only select gymnasts will qualify to attend the event and time is to be determined.
