CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The No. 25 Fighting Illini Women's Gymnastics team trailed Penn State after each of the first three rotations Friday, but came back with a floor score of 49.125 in the fourth to claim a 195.725-195.425 victory at Huff Hall. The Orange and Blue recorded five scores of 9.800 or better on floor to erase a Nittany Lion lead that had been as large as 0.325.
"It was great to have the lineup go out there and do the routines they do in practice," head coach Nadalie Walsh said. "I think our floor team is capable of doing that every week. It feels good to get back on track and keep moving forward. Next week we have two meets, and I think the girls will be really hungry to do outstanding again."
Junior Kylie Noonan earned an individual title on beam, tying a career high with a score of 9.900. Sophomore Shaylah Scott and senior Karen Howell earned shares of the floor title with identical scores of 9.850.
"Kylie has been a really outstanding leader for the beam team," Walsh said. "She's just been a really strong leader. She's the one that tells the girls to act like the boss, and she did a great job today."
