Lexanne Halama Signs with Illini Women’s Golf

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Lexanne Halama signed her National Letter of Intent to play golf at the University of Illinois. Halama comes to Illinois after a decorated prep career including ranked as high as No. 12 in the Class of 2021 according to National Junior Golf Scoreboard.

"We are excited to welcome Lexanne to our program," said head coach Renee Slone. "As we developed our relationship with her, we felt this was going to be a tremendous fit. She is an individual of the highest character and will be an asset to our team culture. She is an incredibly bright individual with tremendous aspirations. With her commitment to growth and improvement and dedicated work ethic, we look forward to a promising college career for Lexanne."

• Four-time District 4-AAA medalist

• Seven AJGA top-10 finishes
• Placed fifth as a freshman, fifth as a sophomore, tied for third as a junior, and eighth as a senior at the TSSAA Large Class Girls State Championships
• Three-time nominee for the All-PrepXtra Girls Golfer of the Year
• 2019 5Star Preps Masters medalist with tournament record of 12-under par (132)
• Finished tied for 14th at the 2019 AJGA Annika Invitational
• Finished second at the 2018 AJGA Junior at RiverWatch GC breaking the women's course record with a seven-under 65 in the final round
• 2018 PKB Tar Heel Classic at UNC Chapel Hill Bell Series Champion
• Tied for 11th at the 2020 Tennessee Women's Amateur at Tennessee National GC
• Qualified for the 2018 USGA Girls Junior Championship
• Tied for seventh at the 2018 The Bubba Conlee Invitational at Quail Ridge GC
• Daughter of Scott and Sherry Halama 
• Father, Scott Halama, played collegiate baseball at Walters State Community College and Florida Atlantic University before playing in the St. Louis Cardinals' organization from 1987-90
• Grandfather attended the University of Illinois
• Plans to study Biology and later attend medical school with a specialization in orthopedics
• Loves writing and is currently working on a book series she hopes to publish
