DURHAM, N.C. - The No. 19 Fighting Illini men's tennis team kicked off its east coast road trip with a 6-1 loss at Duke on Friday. Illinois dropped the first five decisions of the evening before sophomore Siphosothando Montsi won a 10-point tiebreak on Court 2.
"Disappointing loss for this team," head coach Brad Dancer said. "I give credit to Duke. They held their composure better than us in doubles and in a number of singles spots. We can talk about what we need to do to get better but the bottom line is that we have another great challenge tomorrow."
The Orange and Blue head down Tobacco Road on Saturday to face No. 4 North Carolina at 5 p.m. CT.
