CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The fourth ranked Illinois men's gymnastics team will challenge No. 7 Minnesota in its first Big Ten competition of the season on Friday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. CT at Maturi Pavilion. The meet will be streamed on BTN+.
Last Time Out
The Illini went 2-3 at the Windy City Invitational after scoring a 394.200 that was good for third place. The Orange and Blue finished behind No. 5 Michigan (400.00) and No. 7 Minnesota (398.750). Illinois defeated No. 8 Iowa (393.100), No. 17 UIC (357.050) and Northern Illinois (281.150).
Freshman Evan Manivong set two career highs on floor exercise (13.300) and pommel horse (13.300), while senior Satchel Hudson and freshman Josh Cook each set a career-best on still rings with a 13.850 and a 13.600, respectively.
Junior Jordan Kovach recorded a season-best 13.100 on parallel bars and a career high 13.900 on still rings. Senior Sebastian Quiana posted two season highs on parallel bars (13.900) and high bar (12.900).
Junior Max Diab picked up the lone title of the event for the Orange and Blue. Diab took the top spot on still rings with a total of 14.050.
Carter, McCool Earn Big Ten Weekly Awards
The Fighting Illini swept the first Big Ten weekly honors of the season on Jan. 14. Carter was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, and McCool claimed Big Ten Freshman of the Week. The honors were the first for each gymnasts' career.

Looking Ahead
The Fighting Illini return to Huff Hall for a dual meet against conference rival Nebraska on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. CT. The meet will be host to the Illini Ninja Warrior Competition.
At the conclusion of the meet, fans will have an opportunity to take part in our annual Illini Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course Competition, to see if they have what it takes. Prizes for first, second and third place will be distributed at the end.
