CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Former Illinois pitcher Andy Fisher was named the Cincinnati Reds Minor League Pitcher of the Month, the organization announced Tuesday. Fisher had a 0.36 ERA over six outings in July between rookie ball and Class A.
Fisher, who went undrafted in June's MLB Draft, was called up from Rookie Greeneville to Class A Dayton in July and has been nearly unhittable since. He has thrown 15 innings for Dayton and has yet to allow an earned run while striking out 19 and not walking a batter. He totaled 25 innings in the month with 27 strikeouts and three walks.
Fisher was Illinois' ace in 2019 and was an All-Big Ten first team selection. He was a 7-1 with a 2.75 ERA as a senior and went 13-4 with a 3.30 ERA during his two years in Champaign after transferring from Eastern Illinois.
