Women's Gymnastics Adds McKenzie Eddy for 2019-20

Champaign, Ill. - Head coach Nadalie Walsh and the Illinois women's gymnastics team have announced the addition of McKenzie Eddy to the roster for the 2020 season.

"I am extremely pleased to be adding McKenzie Eddy to the program," Walsh said. "I believe she will be an immediate contributor on multiple events – especially vault, where she has a dynamic and explosive 10.0 vault. While on her official visit to Illinois, McKenzie instantly connected with the team, so I am excited about how well she is going to fit into our culture."

Eddy, a native of Boerne, Texas, honed her skills at the club level for Aerial Athletics in San Antonio, winning the 2019 Texas Level 10 Stat Championship on vault with a personal-best score of 9.775. She has recorded nine first-place finishes in individual events and two all-around titles as a Level 10 gymnast since January of 2018.

"McKenzie has an incredible work ethic and has a kind, soft spoken and peaceful character," Walsh said. "I think she is going to make a huge impact in helping me take the Illinois gymnastic program another giant step forward."

Eddy joins an Illini squad that is coming off its 16th straight NCAA regional appearance and a second-place Big Ten finish. Illinois placed fifth at the Ann Arbor Regional in 2019.
