CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini football team held training camp practice No. 3 Sunday morning. The squad practiced for two-and-a-half hours in shorts and shoulder pads on a hot morning at the Campus Recreation Fields east of Memorial Stadium at Florida Ave. and Goodwin Ave. in Urbana (MAP).
It was the first day in shoulder pads after going in shorts and helmets for the first two days. They'll have one more practice in shorts and shoulder pads before going full pads for practice No. 5 on Wednesday.
"We're playing situational football. We moved the ball for the first time today. First day in pads, of course, we'll see who likes contact and who doesn't. There are a lot of things we're giving them, a lot of mental stuff going on. We can't wait to get back out there tomorrow."
Day 3 Notes
