CHAMPAIGN, ILL. - The Illinois Women's Golf program hosted the Fifth Annual Illinois Women's Golf Classic at Lincolnshire Fields Country Club in Champaign. The field of 22 teams braved momentary showers and an occasional drizzle while enjoying the course and raising money to benefit the 2019-20 Illini.
Making the event possible were Illini Sponsors Hickory River Smokehouse, Sullivan-Parkhill Automotive, and UpClose Marketing and Printing, Scoreboard Sponsor Ronald and Paula Filler, Refreshment Sponsor Steve and Jan Bowsher, and many others.
"Another great kick off to the season for Illinois Women's Golf!" head coach Renee Slone said. Thank you to Rob Walls and the entire Lincolnshire Fields Country Club staff for their time and effort in providing an outstanding experience for the participants and sponsors. We sincerely appreciate the support of the Classic sponsors, participants and silent auction contributors. Their investment in our program makes an impact by providing additional resources for our student-athletes. Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to participate in a variety of on-course challenges such as the longest drive, closest second shot, and longest putt. Off the course, competitors had the opportunity to participate in the silent auction.
Following the tournament, Hickory River Smokehouse provided dinner and awards were presented. Members of the 2018-19 Illini Women's Golf Team were introduced to supporters, and the night concluded with the announcement of the silent auction winners.
