CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini football team will open its 2019 preseason training camp on Friday, Aug. 2, on the University of Illinois campus. Training camp practices from Aug. 2-17 will be open to the public and free to attend.
Fans are encouraged to come watch coach Lovie Smith and the Illini as they prepare for the 2019 season and stay for post-practice autographs with the team. The first practice will begin at 10 a.m. on Aug. 2 and is scheduled to end at around noon.
Most practices will be held on the Campus Recreation Fields bordered by Florida Ave. and Goodwin Ave. in Urbana (MAP), just blocks from Memorial Stadium. Free parking will be available in campus lot F23 just south of the Florida Avenue Residence (FAR) Hall (entrance off of Florida Ave.). Parking will not be allowed along Goodwin Ave.
The Aug. 10 practice will take place inside Memorial Stadium from 4-6 p.m. It will be immediately followed by Fan Appreciation Day from 6-7 p.m., where fans will be allowed to come onto the field and get autographs and photos with the Fighting Illini. Then Movie Night at Memorial Stadium, featuring Aladdin, will begin on the video board at 7 p.m.
Starting Monday, Aug. 19, all practices will be closed to the public as the team gears up for the Aug. 31 season opener against Akron.
In the case of inclement weather, practice may change locations and be closed to the public. Practice time and location updates will be posted to FightingIllini.com and on Twitter @IlliniFootball.
