CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams
URBANA, Ill. – Illinois softball redshirt-seniors Annie Fleming and Carly Thomas were named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First-Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced. The duo now advances to the Academic All-America ballot.
The honor, which is selected by CoSIDA members, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a varsity start or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her current institution.
Fleming becomes the first-ever three-time Academic All-District honoree for the Illini, while Thomas earns her first-career Academic All-District plaudit.
An All-Big Ten Second-Team honoree in her final season with the Illini, Thomas leads the nation with 24 doubles on the season and broke both the program's single season and career doubles record in 2019. A Mardi Gras All-Tournament Team honoree, Thomas owns a .364 batting average and leads the team with 116 total bases, while sitting second on the team with 68 hits, 49 runs, 44 RBI and 21 walks.
Fleming, who also garnered Mardi Gras All-Tournament Team accolades, owns the third-highest batting average on the team at .374 and is second with 68 hits and 49 runs. She has also contributed 28 RBI, 10 doubles, eight home runs and 104 total bases on the year. Â
