Kuhn Places 18th on Platform at NCAA Championships

Final Results

AUSTIN, Texas - Already one of the most accomplished divers in Illinois program history, Ling Kuhn added to her stellar career on Saturday, as the senior earned an 18th-place finish on platform at the 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Kuhn is the first Illinois diver ever to compete on the event at the NCAA Championships.

"I'm super happy with how my performance went," Kuhn said. "I was consistent on all five dives and we got 18th so we are really happy about it. Our hard work paid off."

After qualifying for the event at the NCAA Zone C Championships a week ago in West Lafayette, Indiana, Kuhn put together dives of 54.6, 45.5, 45.0, 53.65 and 56.00 for a five-dive total of 254.75 to place 18th overall on the event. The total is third-best of the season for the Bloomington, Ill., native.

Kuhn concludes her Illini career as the school-record holder on both platform (287.80) and the 3-meter springboard (341.7), and the second-best diver in program history on the 1-meter springboard (294.15). A year ago, Kuhn also became the first diver in Illinois history to score on all three diving events at the Big Ten Championships, placing eighth on platform, 15th on 3-meter and 22nd on 1-meter.
