SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Fighting Illini had their final walkthrough at Laney College on a rainy Sunday ahead of Monday's Redbox Bowl at Levi's Stadium.
While the team made their final preparations, a couple fan events took center stage. First, a pep rally and fan fest in Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco, just outside the team hotel. Coach Lovie Smith, along with Illini players Dele Harding, Dre Brown and Kenyon Jackson spoke to the crowd, and the Marching Illini and the Fighting Illini cheerleaders gave the Illini faithful a show.
Then on Sunday night, Fighting Illini fans packed the Public House at Oracle Park for the Bowl Bash at the Bay. The two-hour event featured a special bowl radio show featuring the Voice of the Illini, Brian Barnhart and color analyst and former Illini All-American Martin O'Donnell.
