Illini Add Three to 2020 Signing Class

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Illinois women's gymnastics announced Thursday it has signed three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2020-21 season. Amelia Knight, Allie Morgan, and Abby Mueller have all agreed to join Nadalie Walsh's program beginning in the fall of 2020.

"I am extremely pleased with the incoming 2020 class that we have just welcomed into our program," Walsh said. "I expect each of these athletes to push the program even further forward. I anticipate they will each contribute and be immediately successful. I love that all of them are solid all-around competitors but have their own unique styles and strengths."

Walsh on Knight: "Amelia has a wealth of competitive experience at the international level. She can perform just about any skill in the code book, especially on bars and beam. She is also a fearlessly hard worker with I believe will be inspirational to her future teammates."

Why she chose Illinois: "I loved the ethos of the college"

Walsh on Morgan: "Allie Morgan has incredible lines and gorgeous flexibility. I believe those two attributes will give Allie the opportunity to score incredibly high on every routine she will perform."

Walsh on Mueller: "Abby's strength is her incredible consistency throughout her entire Level 10 career. She has explosive power and a fun and outgoing personality, and she aspires to be a leader for the program. I see her being a student athlete who can not only take care of herself but will also invest to take care of her teammates."

Why she chose Illinois: "I choose Illinois because of the great team atmosphere! The girls on the team are amazing and support each other so much! The coaches care about you as an athlete and as a person."

"Throughout the recruiting process I have become confident that each of these young women knows what it means to be joining this Fighting Illini family," Walsh said. "I am in the business of building positivity, solid character, belief in program success and continued momentum towards creating a culture of excellence. I am extremely appreciative to their families and club coaches for supporting each of their decisions to invest the remainder of their academic and gymnastics careers here at the incredible University of Illinois."
