CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini women's golf team concludes its fall season this weekend at The Landfall Tradition, hosted by UNC Wilmington. The tournament, which runs from Friday to Sunday, will be held on the par-72, 6,140-yard Pete Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Landfall played host to the 2010 and 1995 NCAA Women's Golf Championships. Teams will play 18 holes each day. Tee times are set for 7:30-10:45 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday with a 7:45 a.m. CT shotgun start on Sunday. The Illini will tee off on the first hole from 7:30 to 9:06 Friday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.
"We are looking forward to an exciting finish to the fall season," head coach Renee Slone said. "Having hosted two NCAA Championships, the course will present a great test for the field of players."
This season marks the 18th edition of The Landfall Tradition, and the first time the Illini have taken part in it. This will be the third tournament of the 2019 fall season at which Illinois has made its debut.
The Orange and Blue are coming off a third-place finish at the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah on October 7-8. The Illini have finished in the top five of each of their first three tournaments. One more top-five finish would make three straight seasons in which Illinois has finished in the top five of each of its fall tournaments.
Although the tournament is a new one for Illinois, the Illini have faced eight of the other 17 teams competing at least once this fall. The field at The Landfall Tradition includes host UNC Wilmington, Alabama, Central Florida, Florida State, Furman, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Purdue, South Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
