CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The Illinois baseball team Friday finished the three-game Orange & Blue World Series. The Illini split to three teams - Orange, Blue and Gray - and played 5 1/2 inning games Wednesday-Friday.
The Orange team of Ben Troike, Jeff Korte, Kellen Sarver, Michael Michalak and Andrew Dyke swept the series.
Game 1
The pitchers dominated in the first game, allowing only two runs in 11 pitched frames. The Orange team won with a two-run, two-out rally in their last at-bat.
Orange 2, Blue 0, Gray 0
Game 2
The Orange team scored eight runs in their second at-bat, including three-run home runs by Kellen Sarver and Jeff Korte.
Orange 10, Blue 0, Gray 0
Game 3
The Orange team capped off the sweep with a come-from-behind win. Kellen Sarver delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the fifth.
