ST. CATHERINES, Canada – Fighting Illini incoming freshman Ayo Dosunmu helped the USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team to a 3-0 record in group play at the 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Men in St. Catharines, Canada. The three wins earned the USA the top seed out of Group A heading into the June 14-16 knock-out round where it will face Group B's fourth-place finisher Ecuador (0-3) in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. (CDT) on Thursday, June 14.
Dosunmu averaged 9.3 points and a team-high 4.7 assists while playing 16.3 minutes per game in group play. The Chicago, Ill., native shot 66.7 percent from the field (12-18) and 100 percent from the free throw line (4-4), while also adding six total rebounds and one steal while playing disruptive on-ball defense.
The USA in its three preliminary round games scored over 100 points in each contest and has averaged 112.7 points game.

Should the U.S. win in the quarterfinals, it will play the winner of the Dominican Republic versus Argentina contest in the June 15 semifinals for the right to advance to the June 16 gold medal game.
