VERONA, Wis. - After two rounds of play at the NCAA Madison Regional, No. 20 Illinois sits in a three-way tie for sixth place with a two-day total of 577 (+1). The Illini need to finish in the top six in order to earn the program's first-ever berth at the NCAA Championships, held in Stillwater, Oklahoma, May 18-23.

Following a 292 (+4) on day one, the Illini carded a team total of 285 (-3) on Tuesday, marking the lowest regional single round score in program history. Jan Prapassarangkul paced the Orange and Blue all day, coming away with a team-best five birdies to finish the day at 69 (-3). The senior carries a two-day total of 143 (-1) and currently sits tied for 16th overall.
Tristyn Nowlin and
Bing Singhsumalee are both tied for 30th. Nowlin posted a 73 (+1) on Tuesday after a round one of 72 (E), while Singhsumalee has shot consecutive rounds of 73 (+1) and 72 (E). Tied for 37th are seniors
Grace Park and
Dana Gattone. Park, Illinois' stroke average leader during the season, has carded identical rounds of 73 (+1), while Gattone has come away with a 75 (+3) and a 71 (-1).
The top five teams on the leaderboard are Duke (-14), Virginia (-6), USC (-3), Arizona State (-2) and Oregon State (-2). Tied with the Illini in sixth are both Northwestern and Ohio State, followed by Iowa State (+5), Wisconsin (+7), Purdue (+8), Campbell (+12), Old Dominion (+14), Notre Dame (+20), Idaho (+27), Murray State (+33), North Dakota State (+37) and IUPUI (+44).
The top six teams, and the top three individuals not on one of those six teams, will advance to the NCAA Championships set for May 18-23 at the Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
