VERONA, Wis. - After two rounds of play at the NCAA Madison Regional, No. 20 Illinois sits in a three-way tie for sixth place with a two-day total of 577 (+1). The Illini need to finish in the top six in order to earn the program's first-ever berth at the NCAA Championships, held in Stillwater, Oklahoma, May 18-23. 

"Tomorrow we are going to continue to remain focused on our process and on what we can control," head coach Renee Slone said. "We will keep the energy positive and enjoy this opportunity."

Following a 292 (+4) on day one, the Illini carded a team total of 285 (-3) on Tuesday, marking the lowest regional single round score in program history. Jan Prapassarangkul paced the Orange and Blue all day, coming away with a team-best five birdies to finish the day at 69 (-3). The senior carries a two-day total of 143 (-1) and currently sits tied for 16th overall. 

Tristyn Nowlin and Bing Singhsumalee are both tied for 30th. Nowlin posted a 73 (+1) on Tuesday after a round one of 72 (E), while Singhsumalee has shot consecutive rounds of 73 (+1) and 72 (E). Tied for 37th are seniors Grace Park and Dana Gattone. Park, Illinois' stroke average leader during the season, has carded identical rounds of 73 (+1), while Gattone has come away with a 75 (+3) and a 71 (-1). 

The top five teams on the leaderboard are Duke (-14), Virginia (-6), USC (-3), Arizona State (-2) and Oregon State (-2). Tied with the Illini in sixth are both Northwestern and Ohio State, followed by Iowa State (+5), Wisconsin (+7), Purdue (+8), Campbell (+12), Old Dominion (+14), Notre Dame (+20), Idaho (+27), Murray State (+33), North Dakota State (+37) and IUPUI (+44). 

The top six teams, and the top three individuals not on one of those six teams, will advance to the NCAA Championships set for May 18-23 at the Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
