MINNEAPOLIS –  The No. 3 seed Fighting Illini women's tennis team swept the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 4-0 on Friday evening at the Baseline Tennis Center. Illinois improves to 21-4 overall this season, good for the second-most wins in a single season in program history.

After a 90-minute delay due to high winds, the match was forced inside and play began at 6 pm. Freshman Emilee Duong and junior Jaclyn Switkes topped reifies and Haakenstad, 6-3 on court two. Freshmen Asuka Kawai and Mia Rabinowitz clinched the point, 6-3 on court three.

The Illini freshmen took care of business on the singles courts. Kawai topped Shinde, 6-0, 6-3 on court two. Rabinowitz extended her singles winning streak to 12 matches with a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Del Cueto Castillo at the No. 4 position. Duong clinched the match, 6-1, 6-2 over Bangoura.

Illinois will play Michigan on Saturday at 1:30 in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals.
