ROSEMONT, Ill. - Coming off a runner-up finish at the Big Ten Championships, a record four Illini golfers were named to All-Big Ten teams, as announced by the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday. Senior
Grace Park and junior
Bing Singhsumalee were named first team All-Conference, while senior
Chayanid Prapassarangkul and sophomore
Tristyn Nowlin earned second-team honors. Nowlin was also a Sportsmanship Award honoree.
The Big Ten awards were voted on by the conference's coaches.
Grace Park -
All-Big Ten first team
Park has led the Illini all season long, finishing in the top ten in seven of her ten tournaments on the season. Back in September, Park tied for the second-best 54-hole individual tournament total in program history, carding a 207 (-6) to finish tied for second overall. The San Jose, California, native also posted the ninth-best individual round in school history with a 67 (-4) at the tournament. The senior holds a team-leading stroke average of 72.21 and is the reigning Big Ten Golfer of the Week.
Bing Singhsumalee -
All-Big Ten first team
Competing and finishing every tournament this season,
Bing Singhsumalee has been a consistent force for the Orange and Blue all year long. The junior carries a stroke average of 72.66 and has made a number of changes to the Illinois record book this season, including tying for the third-best 54-hole hole tournament total in program history at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate (208 (-5)). Singhsumalee also posted the fourth-best individual round at the tournament, carding a 66 (-5) to finish in fourth-place overall.
Tristyn Nowlin -
All Big-Ten second team
Coming off a strong freshman season, Tristyn Nowlin didn't disappoint in year two as an Illini. The sophomore posted the ninth and 16th-best individual rounds in program history at the Cour d'Alene Collegiate (67 (-4)) and MountainView Collegiate (69 (-3)), respectively. Nowlin has shot a team-leading 11 rounds under par and has recorded an Illini-best four eagles on the season. Earning second-team honors for the second straight year, the Richmond, Kentucky, native becomes just the sixth Illini golfer to earn the distinction twice.
Chayanid Prapassarangkul -
All-Big Ten second team
Finishing in the top ten in four tournaments on the season, Jan Prapassarangkul has been a big contributor for Illinois all season long. The senior matched the fourth-best individual round in program history at the Cour d'Alene Collegiate (66 (-5)) and also shot the 16th-best total at the Briar's Creek Invitational, posting a 69 (-3). Prapassarangkul holds a stroke average of 73.21 and has recorded nine rounds under par, helping to lead the Illini to top-five finishes in 10 of eleven events on the season.
