MAINEVILLE, Ohio – The 22nd-ranked Fighting Illini women's golf team sits in fifth place after two rounds of play at the Big Ten Championships. UI carded a day two total of 290 (+2) to bring its two-day total to 582 (+6) at the TPC River's Bend Golf Course (Par 72, 6,357 yards).
"I feel we did okay today," junior Bing Singhsumalee said. "We all learned something from today's round and we are ready to apply it tomorrow. We are going into tomorrow with no expectations and hoping for the best!"
Singhsumalee continues to have a strong showing this weekend, as the junior shot a 70 (-2) in the second round to bring her total to 141 (-3). The two-round total has her tied for fifth place overall. Next on the leaderboard for UI is senior Grace Park, who sits in a tie for 13th after a second round score of 73 (+1).
Chayanid Prapassarangkul is tied for 20th after carding rounds of 74 (+2) and 72 (E), while freshman Ali Morallos carries a two-day total of 152 (+8) after identical rounds of 76 (+4). The freshman is tied for 50th overall.
Senior Dana Gattone is in a tie for 60th. Gattone shot a first round score of 76 (+4) and came away with a 79 (+7) round today. After withdrawing from play yesterday, sophomore Tristyn Nowlin carded a second round total of 75 (+3).
Maryland leads the way at 8-under par, followed by No. 11 Michigan State (-7), Ohio State (-5) and No. 31 Purdue (+2). In sixth-place is No. 10 Northwestern (+9), followed by No. 37 Wisconsin (+14), Indiana (+14), Iowa (+22), Nebraska (+26), Minnesota (+27), Penn State (+27) and Rutgers (+37).
Final round play is set for tomorrow, with tee times beginning at 7:00 a.m. CT. A full list of pairings can be found here.
