COLUMBUS, Ohio –
Fighting Illini men's golf (+3) is holding the top spot on the leaderboard at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate after the first day of play. The second round was suspended at 7 p.m. CT and will resume tomorrow with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. CT.

Led by seniors Nick Hardy and Dylan Meyer, the Illini posted a first-round tally of 294 (+10), and are currently 7-under par in the second round of play. Hardy and Meyer sit among the top 10 individuals with scores at even par and 1-over par, respectively.

The Illini are joined by several Big Ten opponents at the top of the leaderboard as Michigan State (+5) and Purdue (+6) round out the top three teams, and host Ohio State (+8) is currently holding the No. 4 spot. Penn State is 9-over par as a team and sits in fifth.

Currently tied for fifth individually, Hardy played consistently on Saturday as he posted a first-round score at even par. He is at even par through 14 holes in today's second round as well.

Meyer shot 1-over par to start the day, carding two birdies on the back nine of his first round. He has tallied two birdies in the second round, which helped negate early bogeys in Saturday's afternoon round. Tied for ninth individually, Meyer is at even par through 14 holes of the second round with a total score 1-over par.

Sophomores Giovanni Tadiotto and Bryan Baumgarten also join Hardy and Meyer among the top 20 individuals after the first day in Columbus. Tadiotto is tied for 13th, with a total score 2-over par. He started the day at 5-over par, but gained momentum to start round two.

Tadiotto carded three birdies to start the second round and was 2-under par at the turn. He recorded another pair of birdies on the back nine for a second-round tally 3-under par through 16 holes.

Baumgarten is 3-under par for the day, tied for 16th. He also picked up the pace during the afternoon round after shooting 7-over par to start the day. He racked up four birdies in the second round to sit 4-under par, and will resume play on the 17th hole.

Sophomore Michael Feagles is 9-over par for the day and tied for 66th individually. He recorded one birdie in the opening round and added two more to start the second round of the day. He will resume play on the 16th hole.

Playing as an individual, freshman Brendan O'Reilly is tied for 25th individually with a 5-over par score. He opened the day with a first-round tally 5-over par, and is even through 13 holes on the second round.

THE TOURNAMENT

Hosted by Ohio State, the 54-hole event will take place at The Ohio State University Golf Club, April 21-22. Held on the Par 71, 7,455-yard Scarlet Course, the second round will resume on Sunday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. CT. Final round tee times will also begin at 7:30 a.m. CT. Illinois will begin third round play, with tee times at 8:30 a.m. CT.
