URBANA, Ill.  – The University of Illinois women's tennis team sits at No. 5 in the latest Oracle/ITA Team Rankings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Tuesday morning. After a 7-1 start to the season, the No. 5 ranking is the highest team ranking in program history.

Illinois is coming off a 2-0 weekend at the Atkins Tennis Center where the Illini defeated Iowa and then-No. 22 Washington. The Orange and Blue are riding a four-match winning streak that began with a 4-2 victory over then-No. 11 Texas on February 2. The win over the Longhorns was Illinois's first win over a Top-15 team since the 2012 season. UI's two wins over Top-25 opponents this season marks just the second time since 1994 that the Orange and Blue have defeated two Top-25 teams in a single season.

The Illini boast one of the youngest rosters in the nation with four freshmen in the singles and doubles lineup. UI is one of only four teams in the Oracle/ITA Top-25 with four freshmen on the roster.  Up next, the Orange and Blue travel to the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery, Alabama for three matches in two days on Friday and Saturday.
