CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Illinois junior running back Reggie Corbin was named Co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Corbin rushed for 213 yards, the eighth most in Illinois history, during the Illini's blowout win Saturday over Minnesota.
Corbin needed only 13 carries to get to 213 rushing yards (16.4 yards per rush), passing Red Grange's famous performance against Michigan in 1924 when the Galloping Ghost rushed for 212 yards. Corbin had touchdown runs of 77 and 72 yards, his third and fourth 70+-yard carries this season. The Upper Marlboro, Maryland, native leads the nation in 80+-yard runs (1), 70+-yard runs (4), 60+-yard runs (5) and 50+-yard runs (7).
Corbin is Illinois' first Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week since Wes Lunt was 35-of-50 passing for 456 yards and three touchdowns against Western Kentucky to earn Co-Player of the Week honors Sept. 8, 2014.Â
