Kicker Chase McLaughlin, a fifth-year senior and graduate student, made three field goals (from 31, 29 and 26 yards out) and added an extra point in a 24-16 loss at Northwestern last Saturday. That brought McLaughlin's season scoring total to 96 points, the seventh most in program history. McLaughlin's season points total led the Big Ten and ranked 25th in FBS.
His three field goals in Saturday's game brought his season total to 20, tied for the fourth most in a single season in Illinois history.
McLaughlin was named the Big Ten's Bakken-Andersen Kicker of the Year. McLaughlin was also voted first-team All-Big Ten by the league's coaches and second-team All-Big Ten by the media.
