CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A Thailand native, Kornkamol "Stang" Sukaree, attended Anaheim Discovery Christian Academy in Anaheim, Calif., where she tied for fourth individually at the 2017 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Girls Championship. Sukaree also earned 16 top-10 AJGA finishes (including seven victories) and six top-five SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup finishes (including three victories). On the international scene, Sukaree was a two-time IMG Junior World Championship qualifier and finished an impressive seventh overall in 2016. She was ranked No. 17 for the Class of 2018 on National Junior Golf Scoreboard.

Sukaree has already made an immediate impact for the Illini, having earned three top-10 finishes and tied for the top Illinois finisher in the opening tournament, Mercedes-Benz Collegiate in Knoxville, Tenn. The freshman's performance at the Illinois hosted Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah put her in the Illinois record books – a 210 (-6) for third-best 54-hole tournament score and 68 (-4), tying for 10th-best individual round in program history. The Illini newcomer concluded her season by being honored as an AJGA Rolex Junior Second Team All-American. Sukaree looks to continue to make an impact for the team during the 2019 spring season...

"I chose Illinois because after visiting I felt I could call it home. I love the school, the golf facility, and the coaches. I also will be able to experience a different climate. Lastly, I appreciate the many traditions of a university that was established in 1867 and the opportunities that one of the most well-respected colleges in the country will provide."
