CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini women's swimming and diving team will be competing in its first prelim/final meet of the season, as the team heads to Indianapolis for the House of Champions Invitational. The trip will mark the first time the Orange and Blue have competed at the annual event, hosted by IUPUI.

"We are looking forward to getting in a lot of racing and competing on the boards," head coach Sue Novitsky said. "This will be our first prelim/final format of the year and it is good practice for the Big Ten and NCAA Championships. It is going to be a challenge for the team with six sessions and we are going to just take it one race or dive at a time."

The Illini will see competition from 9 schools, including Butler, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Eastern Illinois, Evansville, Green Bay, IUPUI, Indianapolis and Western Illinois.

Next Up

The House of Champions Invite marks the final team competition of 2018, as the Orange and Blue won't compete again until January 11, against both Notre Dame and Iowa. However, select swimmers will have the opportunity to compete at the USA Winter Nationals event, held in Greensboro, N.C., Nov. 28 - Dec. 1.
