Live Scoring
WINDERMERE, Fla. – Fighting Illini men's golf continued play at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational on Monday, posting a second-round tally of 5-over par. The Illini were led by sophomore Brendan O'Reilly, who fired a 1-under par second round score. Two Illini currently sit among the top 25 individuals on the leaderboard as juniors Michael Feagles and Bryan Baumgarten are tied for 17th and 24th, respectively.
Vanderbilt (-18) is maintaining its top spot in the standings and is joined among the top three teams by Texas Tech (-10) and Auburn (-5). The Illini are 3-over par in total through two rounds of play. The final round will begin tomorrow with tee times at 7 a.m. CT.
"When you're in contention during a three-round tournament, you want to move up the leaderboard in the second round. We did some things today that, ultimately, resulted in us moving backwards, and you can't do that in college golf. We didn't drive the ball with confidence and we didn't make many putts. Our average on the Par 5s was too high, and those are where you can gain some shots on this golf course. If we clean up those mistakes tomorrow, we still have a chance to finish among the top teams."
Feagles closed Monday's round at 3-over par for a combined total at even par. Also among the top 25, Baumgarten enters Tuesday's final round with a total score 1-over par. Baumgarten carded two birdies in Monday's second round and closed the day 2-over par.
Freshman Adrien Dumont de Chassart has a total tally of 4-over par through two rounds of play. He is tied for 40th individually after recording a 6-over par second-round score.
O'Reilly and Junior Giovanni Tadiotto are tied in 42nd place overall with total scores of 5-over par. O'Reilly led Illinois on Monday with a 1-under par second-round score. He carded two birdies on the front nine to make the turn at even par. O'Reilly added three more birdies on his back nine to negate two late bogeys. Tadiotto also added two birdies for Illinois on Tuesday, but closed the day at 1-over par.
