ROSEMONT – Fighting Illini junior goalkeeper Jaelyn Cunningham was honored by the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday as she was named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week. The recognition marks the first weekly honor for Cunningham in her career, and the second for an Illini this season.

Cunningham and the Illini are coming off of a successful weekend in Champaign. The Reynoldsburg, Ohio, native grabbed six saves against the Purdue Boilermakers on Thursday, helping the Orange and Blue secure a 3-1 victory to start the weekend. Cunningham then recorded a season-best eight saves against Indiana on Sunday on her way to her sixth shutout of the season, as UI defeated the Hoosiers, 1-0, in double overtime. Cunningham's six shutouts this year rank fourth in the Big Ten, and she ranks fifth in the league for her 56 saves. 

The Orange and Blue will close regular season play with weekend with matches at Northwestern (Oct. 18) and Nebraska (Oct. 21). Stay tuned to FightingIllini.com for the latest on Illinois Soccer.
