COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -Ā The Illinois women's golf team placed second at the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational on Wednesday, its second-straight top-two finish. The Orange and Blue posted rounds of 280-279-282 for a final score of 841 (-11) at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course (Par 71, 6,088). The 11-under-par score ties for the second best 54-hole tournament team score in program history.

"It was a solid performance overall," head coach Renee Slone said. "We had the low score in two of the three rounds. The team had great positivity and good energy again and it was a total team effort as everyone contributed to our success.

Senior Grace Park led the way for the Illini throughout the tournament, finishing tied for second with a final reading of 68-67-72. The second round score of 67 (-4) is the eighth lowest single round score in Illini history and the tournament total of 207 (-6) is the second best tournament total in program history.

Freshman Ali Morallos finished in a tie for sixth, posting a line of 72-67-72 for a 211 (-2) total. The second round score of 67 (-4) is the best of her career and ties Park for the eighth lowest single round in school history.

Senior Jan Prapassarangkul had a first round score of 69 (-2), a second round score of 78 (+7) and a 66 (-5) in the final round to finish at par, placing 15th overall. Prapassarangkul's third round total of 66 (-5) ties for the fourth lowest single round score in Illini history.

Tying for 20th, junior Bing Singhsumalee carded rounds of 71-72-73 and ended up 3-over-par, while senior Dana Gattone tied for 36th, posting a reading of 75-73-72 and finishing 7-over-par.

Colorado won the tournament with a score of 834 (-18), followed by Illinois (-11), BYU (+2), Fresno State (+8) and New Mexico (+10) rounding out the top five. The top individual finisher was Kirsty Hodgkins from Colorado, with a 203 (-10).

"We will continue to focus on our short game and course management to prepare for Kentucky," Slone said. "We need to continue our positivity and good energy."

Up Next

Next weekend the Illini will head to the Bettie Lou Evans Invite, hosted by Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. The tournament is set for Friday-Sunday, October 6-8.
