CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A total of 19 former Fighting Illini football players took part in Illinois' annual NFL Pro Day Thursday morning, March 16, at the Illinois Football Performance Center and Irwin Indoor Practice Center in front of scouts representing 31 NFL teams.
Taking part in Thursday's workouts were 16 seniors from the 2016 Fighting Illini – Rob Bain, Chunky Clements, Ryan Frain, Zach Grant, Justin Hardee, Ainslie Johnson, Wes Lunt, Michael Martin, Darius Mosely, Hardy Nickerson, Carroll Phillips, Gimel President, Dawuane Smoot, Austin Schmidt, Joe Spencer and Tyler White – plus three from previous years – V'Angelo Bentley, Chris Boles and Cameron Tucker.Â
The Illini started off with measurements and vertical leap testing inside the Performance Center before moving to the Irwin Indoor complex for speed an agility drills. After the drill testing, the Fighting Illini took part in position-specific drills on the turf at the Irwin Practice Facility. Many were also interviewed by scouts.
The 2017 NFL Draft will take place April 27-29 in Philadelphia. A total of 22 Illini have been drafted in the last eight years and 17 former Illini played in the NFL last season.
