URBANA, Ill. – The Illinois women's tennis team will play Middle Tennessee Friday afternoon in the first of three home matches this weekend. The Fighting Illini will play the Blue Raiders at 2 p.m. on Friday, and will have a doubleheader on Sunday against Notre Dame and Eastern Illinois.
"We are feeling good, the team is in a good place," said head coach Evan Clark. "We came up a little bit short against Auburn last week, but feel good about where we are at. Heading into three matches this weekend, the girls are ready to play and looking forward to the opportunity."
Illinois is coming off a 4-1 loss at home against No. 14 Auburn last weekend. Senior Madie Baillon won at No. 4 singles over Roos van der Zwaan for the Illini point.
"Each match the team gets a little more comfortable," Clark said. "I don't think you can throw anything at us that we haven't seen before. We are just looking to build off the matches we have played."
HISTORY VS. THE BLUE RAIDERS
Illinois and Middle Tennessee have met only once before, during the 1998-99 season. The Illini prevailed over the Blue Raiders, 8-1.
