Round 1 Results | Live Scoring 

WINDERMERE, Fla. – Fighting Illini men's golf pulled into an early lead at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational on Sunday, firing a first-round score 9-under par to sit atop the leaderboard. All five Illini are currently among the top 25 individuals, led by senior Dylan Meyer who used a 5-under par 67 to pull into a share of the individual tournament lead after one round of play.

"This is what we've been working towards this fall, a day like today," head coach Mike Small said. "When you throw out even par on a demanding golf course like this, you know you're going to have a solid day. All five guys showed up and played solid. We didn't cause a lot of stress by the way we played, we approached holes the correct way and we putted like Illini."

Meyer got off to a fast start for the Orange and Blue, posting a birdie on the first hole of the day. He added back-to-back birdies on holes four and five and another on the seventh hole to keep his momentum going. His only bogey of the day put him at 3-over par at the turn, but Meyer continued his strong play, recording two more birdies on the back nine. He is joined in the tournament lead by Florida's John Axelsen.

Meyer is joined among the top 10 individuals by sophomore Giovanni Tadiotto who shot a 2-under par 70 on Sunday. Tadiotto shot 2-over par on the front nine, before carding four birdies after the turn. He is tied for seventh heading into Monday's second round.

Sophomore Michael Feagles joins freshman Brendan O'Reilly in a tie for 11th overall with scores of 1-under par. Feagles shot even par on the front nine, using a birdie on the seventh hole to negate an early bogey on the day. He added another birdie on the back nine. O'Reilly started the day 1-over par, but tallied three birdies after the turn for a total score of 71.

Senior Nick Hardy shot even par on Sunday, and sits in a tie for 22nd heading into tomorrow's round.

The second round of play will begin tomorrow with tee times beginning at 7 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat, and a recap will be posted on FightingIllini.com at the conclusion of each round.  Illinois tee times are set to begin at 8:40 a.m. CT.

Hosted by UCF and West Virginia, the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational is held on the 7,544-yard, Par 72 course at Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Windemere, Fla. Recognized as one of the premier events in the country, the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational welcomes the nation's top teams each season. The 2017 field includes 10 teams ranked among the top 30 according to Golfstat. The Illini are joined at the event by Auburn, Augusta, Arizona, Arizona State, Florida, California, LSU, North Carolina, North Florida, North Texas, Purdue, Texas Tech, UAB, UCF, West Virginia and Vanderbilt.
