
Men's Golf Heads to the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational

CHAMPAIGN – Fighting Illini men's golf returns to action on Sunday, October 22 at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational. Held at Isleworth Golf & Country Club, the three-day, 54-hole event is hosted by Central Florida and West Virginia. Located in Windermere, Fla., Isleworth Golf & Country Club boasts a Par 72, 7,544-yard course.
Recognized as one of the premier events in the country, the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational welcomes the nation's top teams each season. The 2017 field includes 10 teams ranked among the top 30 according to Golfstat.
The Illini are joined at the event by Auburn, Augusta, Arizona, Arizona State, Florida, California, LSU, North Carolina, North Florida, North Texas, Purdue, Texas Tech, UAB, UCF, West Virginia and Vanderbilt.
"This is regarded as one of the top events in the country," head coach Mike Small said. "We saw a little bit of momentum at Crooked Stick, and we're excited to get down to Florida and see if we can build upon that."
Teams will play 18 holes each day, October 22-24, with tee times beginning at 7 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat, and a recap will be posted on FightingIllini.com at the conclusion of each round.
The Orange and Blue are coming off of a third-place team finish at the Crooked Stick Invitational. Four individuals placed among the top 30, led by senior Nick Hardy who earned a 1-under par, second place finish.
